Fans Get a Look Inside AVENUE
The clothing designs, fashion shows and publication are the visible parts of the fashion industry, and often the hard work behind the scenes goes without notice or much thought. Fabulous Fashion offers viewers the chance to hear about the efforts of people involved in all aspects of this industry. Most often we get to meet designers and hear about their work and inspirations, but there are many other facets of a successful brand. This night the fans of Fabulous Fashion were treated to an interview with Rusch Raymaker, Founder & CEO of AVENUE Inc., and Founder & Designer of Stylissimo, and Jesika Contepomi, Chief Marketing Officer of AVENUE Inc. and PR Director of Stylissimo, to give some insight into what goes on inside the various parts of a successful, multi-faceted fashion business.

Opportunities to hear about the work that goes into the promotion of a brand are rare for people outside the industry, but Fabulous Fashion looks to cover the gamut for its fans, and it is appreciated. Arabella Robonaught summed it up nicely: “… Angie and Paisley are like the Oprah’s of SL.” This night she learned some interesting facts about AVENUE and saw the Stylissimo Line for the first time, ”I’ve heard of it, I like what I see and would consider purchasing four of the outfits I see on stage.”

Even people whose line of work puts them in touch with the world of fashion are often too busy themselves to keep up on all that goes on, so Fabulous Fashion helps them keep up. Photographer Ludwig Prinz is well known throughout the fashion world, yet was surprised at what he heard. “Very interesting to hear about the history of AVENUE, and all the accomplishments, I wasn’t even aware how diversified they are. Pretty amazing to see the growth of Avenue which I have know for a long time. I think Angie was very engaging, but of course Avenue has such a big history, almost impossible to cover it all. Rusch and Jesika looked stylish as always, I am happy to have them in my friend’s list.”

This particular episode was interesting in that it showed how it can be used by others, including a full service agency such as AVENUE, as a promotional tool. It is a good way to get exposure for a new brand, such as Stylissimo, as the designs are shown on live models and discussed in some depth. And since fashion styles are extremely varied, especially in Second Life, it is important to present a brand to the widest possible audience. Some comment from Helena Stringer are an example, “For a first collection, I’d have to say it’s a good start. I can’t say it’s something I would personally go out and buy myself. I look for certain qualities in my fashion, in both real life and SL. The one that does call to me the most is on Sally. I love colour, and you don’t often see such unusual combinations, as the green and burnished colours. Sort of Fall like. For a designer that never created previously to do this collection, it is a good showing, for the fashion that it is. My taste or not.” Even when the quality of the work is recognized and appreciated, the style won’t be desired by everyone, which makes the job of promotion that much more important.

Taking a Glance at Fashion
Glance International Agency celebrated their one year anniversary with an ambitious day of fashion shows and Angie invited GIA CEO Patty Cortes on to share the story of her agency and some details about the event. Among the large and interested crowd were many fashion industry and media personalities. One of the big details of International Fashion day that helped to attract the audience was the sponsorship by PR Couture, a real life fashion public relations website. The bringing together of the real world fashion industry with Second Life is a topic oft discussed among the who’s who of SL fashion and media companies, so the intrigue is to be expected.

Owner of Ora Trei, Potnia Theas was on hand and offered her view of things. “I’m so excited that PR Couture is covering IFD. I think that second life gives the opportunity to take real life fashion to the next level of creativity. It requires not only the creative ability, but also graphic design technique. I think it’s wonderful too that anyone is able to wear couture here for an affordable price as compared to real life. I think we will [see more RL fashion connections coming to SL]. Fashion is a major part of Second Life. I think more real life fashion media will begin to notice.”

Like most nights, the interesting topics presented on Fabulous Fashion continues to attract new fans. Laya Felisimo attended her first show this night along Dimitri Shinn. Like most who see the show live, Laya was impressed. “Iit was great, very informative and fun. It was great hearing about Glance’s plans for their sim and also Vixie’s fashion spot was great, some great new pieces to look at too. It’s actually the first time Dimitri and myself have been to the show and seen it. I’m really impressed and will definately be back to check it out again, it’s more real live then seeing on TV. It really was such an awesome experince.”

Fabulous Fashion Celebrates International Fashion Day!

This week Fabulous Fashion Celebrates International Fashion Day!
Tonight I will sit with GLANCE International Agency CEO Patty Cortes to talk about International Fashion Day, a special event that runs from September 5th to September 6th. Patty has been going strong with GLANCE for a year now, and this event will celebrate the anniversary of her agency. International Fashion Day will feature 24 designers in 24 hours and is sure to be a hit!
Sponsoring International Fashion Day is PR Couture, a real life fashion public relations website that serves as a respected online resource for the RL fashion industry. While there is Life, there is Hope – Cicero
Okay, I don’t think Cicero was referring to Rebel Hope and Second Life in the title quote, but Rebel has been around long enough that the quote seems applicable here as well. Judging from the number of people that came to the studio to see her this night, there is little doubt that she can continue for a long time to come as well. It seemed that everyone in attendance was already familiar with the works of Rebel, and were interested to hear from the person behind the designs they love.

Just as Fabulous Fashion helps to expand the exposure of designers, so do well known designers help to increase the awareness of the show. Feyth Ashbourne was brought to the studio because of her love of Rebel Hope clothes. “I came to see what the show was like, to see what takes place here. It is a very new experience for me. It’s interesting to listen to the designers’ perspective, and the interview is very comprehensive. I enjoyed it very much. I have liked Rebel’s designs since I started SL, and it was lovely to hear her view on fashion.” This was Feyth’s introduction to Fabulous Fashion thanks to Rebel and I expect she’s likely to return.

Owner of Exodi and a friend of Rebel Hope, Ryker Beck, was already familiar with the show from having seen it on TV, but came to see Rebel’s interview live. This was her first time seeing the show in studio. Anyone who has seen the show both live and taped can appreciate the richer atmosphere of watching live in studio, as Ryker found out this night. “I thought it was great! Angie’s incredibly good at hosting and asking the right questions and Rebel did great. It was actually like watching a real talk show.” Perhaps she’ll be back to watch future shows live.
Fabulous Fashion continues to develop a symbiotic relationship with designers and stylists as each show seems to bring new viewers to the studio. People often come to see one and become exposed to the others. Most who see the show turn out to be fans that will keep coming back, as is the case with Yasmina Lemon. “I love fashion. I came to the show because one Sunday I was sitting around at home and saw a repeat of the show and thought what an amazing idea! I saw a dress on the show and went to the store they recommended and loved it. So I figured I’d see it live. This is my 2nd time here during a taping. The first time was last week, this is the first time I can hear. I like it a lot, it’s kind of like being an insider.”

London Calling – (London Dailey That Is)
London Dailey of House of London was the featured designer on Fabulous Fashion Monday night and was welcomed by a large crowd in the studio. One of the things that makes appearing on this show worthwhile for a designer, is the exposure they get to potential new customers. Often times, as I speak with the audience members, people come to support the Guest Stylist or one of the models and end up being introduced to the featured designer and their work. This happened for numerous people this taping as several people came by to see Grazia Horwitz, Angie’s Guest Stylist.

Sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve and a previous guest of the show was here. “I popped over to see Grazia, she’s a friend.” As a result she was introduced to London and her work through the interview. “Angie does a great job, she really puts people at ease. I’m not familiar with London’s work so this is an introduction for me. Her designs looked very well made. The pumps caught my eye particularly.”
Another person in attendance, Sofia Gray, was also invited by Grazia. She’s a fan of the show and has appeared on it as model for the Milla Michinaga interview and tries to attend whenever a friend appears, like Grazia tonight. She appreciates the interviews with the designers as well. “I really enjoy them – they are very organic. Which I think makes for a really good interview. You can tell that [Angie] knows enough about the person she is interviewing to make it interesting and not cookie cutter. As though the questions are catered to the person she’s asking.”

Even though the shows popularity has grown, curiosity still often draws new fans. Such was the case with Blade Blachere. In her own words as to how she came to the studio, “Curiosity.. I received a notice from Alchemy Immortalis so decided to see what happens.” I didn’t even know the show was advertised there, turns out Alchemy Immortalis was one of the featured accessory designers. Besides enjoying the show she found a couple other incentives to return. “I read SCD blog and find myself astonished to be sitting next to the lady [Tenshi Vielle] herself! I approve of the male model [Clyde Saunders]… grin. He has a gorgeous avie. Its been really interesting. A big audience, very impressive. I could very well come back to another one.”

The Return of Digit Darkes Draws a Crowd
One year ago, Digit Darkes was the featured guest on the pilot episode of Fabulous Fashion. She returned this week to reprise that appearance before a large studio audience. People find many reasons to attend the taping of the show, a desire to see the featured designer is high among them. Digit is well known and popular as a designer in Second Life, so it’s not surprising that so many would show up to the live taping.

Sitting with regular attendees, SySy Chapman and Jackson Vantelli, was Staged owner,Dezi Jarvinen. Not only a fan fo Fabulous Fashion, Dezi had this to say about Digit, “I think she is awesome!!! I love how she wants to go above and beyond to do more then just a peice of clothing but rather a work of art. Plus what girl doesn’t love sparkles?”

Another common reason for people to attend the show is tha they know someone making an appearance. the multi-talented (model/DJ/photographer) Donald Feld came by this night because a friend was one of the models. He does, however, appreciate the interview of the featured designer as well. “Digit was great, great answers, gave a good insight into her style. Angie is a great host, flows well and she seems to know about the brands that are featured, keeps herself up to date.”

Fabulous Fashion is popular as a TV program, but more people are learning that it can viewed live as well. People seem to like the live viewing even more if they are able to attend. Cyclic Gearz learned this as she attended the live taping for the first time. “I usually watch it on treet.tv, so it’s great to see it live. I like the atmosphere better live, it’s very much like watching friends talk.” If you’re a fan of the TV show or some how have yet to see it, it’s not hard to find a reason to come to the studio to see the show live.
