Fabulous Fashion: First Anniversary of our Pilot Show!

Tonight on Fabulous Fashion:  Celebrating the anniversary of our Pilot Show with Digit Darkes!
Digit Darkes July 27th on Fabulous Fashion
It is amazing how time flies, it’s been a year since I taped the pilot episode of Fabulous Fashion!  It was last July that I had designer Digit Darkes on as my very first interview. I was really nervous and I crashed during the show, leaving Digit to do the outfits on her own!  But we had a great time and so it is my pleasure to welcome Digit back to talk about what she has been up to since our last interview.  And of course her line of gorgeous clothing never disappoints!

Fashion Bloggers in the Spotlight

The Business of Fashion: Fashion Blogging

This past week saw something a little different on Fabulous Fashion.  Instead of featuring a designer or fashion icon, Angie invited a few popular bloggers to appear as guests on the show.  Many blogs are well read and have large followings and this is certainly true of the popular blogs that follow Second Life fashion.  With their popularity and the service they do the content creators, it seems appropriate to feature them on a show such as this.

The audience seemed to like the topic as a change of pace.  CodeBastard Redgrave and Gabby Panacek were in attendance today.  I’m not sure if either had been to the studio to see the show live before, but both are familiar with the show and it’s segments.   Gabby is also familiar with the blogs of a couple of the guests, so she enjoyed the topic, ” really like it…lots of interesting information…I love listening to Kimmy talk about the outfits.  And hearing about the freebie blogs was fun too.  And Ten…well, I lover her, so I’m glad she’s talking about something other than drama.  Angie’s such a pro…she asks the right questions and keeps the conversation moving.  She’s good at what she does…I don’t envy her that job.”

Toko Voom made her first visit to the studio this night, although she has watched it before on TV, so she too is familiar with the typical guest spots.  She also found this to be an interesting change of pace “Without bloggers you won’t hear about a lot of designers.  [Angie] is pretty amazing and I like that she knows what she is talking about.”

Like many nights, the featured guest(s) also bring new fans to the show, people that may have never seen it but come specifically to see the guest.  It’s one of the ways that people get introduced to the show and become fans.  Stephen Venkman heard that popular Vain blogger Kimmy Mirabeau was on, “I am a fan of Vain magazine and the people behind it’s success.”  It’s possible that we’ll see him back again someday with the right topics, “It’s a good show.  I’m enjoying it.  It depends for me what it’s about or who is on the show as I’m not really into women’s fashion that much but the people behind it.. now if it was a men’s show.. I’d be all ears.”

As always, the photos are provided by Fabulous Fashion Photographer, Sharron Schuman.

You can find more photos from the show on flickr.

The Business of Fashion: Fashion Blogging

Tonight’s show will be the first in an ongoing series called: The Business of Fashion. The fashion industry in SL is one of the most successful communities in Second Life. It is an industry that can be very lucrative, that can be full of unity and at times full of drama. It is a complex network of Designers, Models, agencies, magazines, and bloggers who represent all levels of the SL fashion industry.

The first episode of this series, “Fashion Blogging”, will take a look at the role that the blogosphere plays in the SL fashion community.

My guests are from three different blogs that represent three different perspectives in fashion:

*Tenshi Vielle, Editor of Shopping Cart Disco.
Love her or hate her, Tenshi’s blog is one of the most popular blogs in SL. The SCD web site received over 70,000 hits last month alone, from readers who love to keep up with the latest in fashion gossip, controversy and news. Shopping Cart Disco has covered the good, the bad and the truly ugly.

*Kimberly Mirabeau, Editor-at-Large, Arts Editor and Model for Vain Inc.
Vain Magazine is a top fashion publication and Vain Inc. is a multifaceted business. The very talented Kimberly Mirabeau will be on hand to talk about what it takes to run a magazine in the fickle world of SL fashion, and how blogging is used as a saavy promotional tool for Vain.

Dahlinda makes her second appearance on Fabulous Fashion, this time she will give her perspective on freebies and their place within the fashion community. Freebies are another ongoing hot topic in SL Fashion, and we will hear what Dahlindah has to say about them and about how popular the freebie blogging community is in SL.

Fabulous Fashion Returns to the Studio

Fabulous fashion returned to the studio and it’s regular format this week, after doing the special episode at SL6B.  Thankfully, the fans of the show remembered their way here.  Many showed up this night, both regulars and new comers, to see Swaffette and her designs.  Of course, Swaffette has been around Second Life fashion for quite some time and has an extensive array of men’s and women’s fashion, so it’s likely that some followed her down to the show.

Sasy Scarbouough, Paisley Beebe

(Sasy Scarborough and Paisley Beebe)

Looking over the crowd, I spotted the popular blogger Sasy Scarborough sitting with Paisley.  In speaking with her, I learned that she is an occasional member of the audience.  She is a fan of the show and tries to make when time allows.  She had some nice comments on the show: “It was wonderful being able to see such an icon like Swaffette featured in this way, I have always admired her work and hearing her talk with such passion was inspiring.  Zoe as Guest Stylist talking about her favorite accessories was a wonderful choice, her style is marvelous and it was really lovely to hear her talk with as much style and creativity as she portrays in her Photography and blogging, fantastic show, I am so glad I made it.”

Miko Omegamu, Tia Ryba, Snapple Sneerwell

(Miko Omegamu, Tia Ryba and Snapple Sneerwell)

With Second Life being global, it’s natural that no time is convenient to everyone, but real fans do what they can to see the show.  It seems that Miko Omegamu is one such fan.  “I am sneaking in while I’m logged in at work.”  A real fan, no doubt.  “So great I logged in from work  to see it!”  Of course, the show is available on Treet TV for those unable to see it live.  ”Whenever I have time I queue up the ones I’ve missed.”  And her favorite aspect of the show?  “I think meeting the designer and getting to know them beyond their fashions.”

Kate Stockholm, CheerCoach4EJS Gymnast

(Kate Stockholm and CheerCoach4EJS Gymnast)

Of course a number of regulars are always present.  Kate Stockholm and CheerCoach4EJS Gymnast are almost always at the live tapings and returned to the studio with the show this night.  Whether regulars at the tapings or viewers of the the show on TV, all the fans contribute to the success of Fabulous Fashion.

As always, the photos are provided by Fabulous Fashion Photographer, Sharron Schuman.

July 13th on Fabulous Fashion SF Design

Join me tonight as I welcome designing veteran and double threat, swaffette Firefly of SF Design. Designing wonderful clothing for both men and women for almost 5 years, swaffette definitely has an eye for fashion! One of my favorite things about swaffette is her suits. Fans Celebrate SL6B With Fabulous Fashion

Last week, Fabulous Fashion was an exhibitor at SL6B and took the opportunity to tape the show at its exhibit there.  Instead of featuring a designer, Angie and her guests discussed the advances in fashion over the six years of Second Life.   Most of the fans of the show haven’t been around since the beginning of Second Life and probably take today’s advanced fashions for granted.  I expect this was an enlightening show for many.

(Colleen Desmoulins and Devon Chaffe)

Colleen Desmoulins, owner of The Loft, was in attendance.  She has been around longer than many, since late 2005, so has seen many developments and changes in Second Life.  I asked her how she liked the topic for this show, “I think it’s perfect for the anniversary.  It’s nice to look back on how far we have come and be excited about what is in store, it’s getting better and better and better.”

cara2

(Carabella Babii)

The excellent photographer, Carabella Babii, was at the taping for the first time.  She has only been in Second life since mid 2007, so what did she think of the show?  ” Omg this is so cool.  I love it because I’ve just been here two years so it’s really interesting to hear about the clothes of the past, and with such knowledge.  I have Last Call and I love all the STF even though it so vintage.”  Now there’s an interesting concept, Vintage SL fashion.  Will clothing from the early days of Second Life eventually be seen as trendy?  I guess time will tell.

Our photographer Sharron, always the thoughtful dresser, having been around since mid 2006, dug deep in her inventory to pull out items from her early days in Second Life.  You can find more photos from the show on flickr.
